The reservoirs were from Phobya. I chose these as the size was perfect for the build and also because of the gold plated ends, I wanted to give them a cocktail glass kind of feel to them. I also had them engraved with the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster logo. The two D5 Laing pumps were sprayed gold, this was to represent the effect of the drink (like having your brains smashed out with a gold brick with a lemon wrapped around it).

I stripped down the water blocks to give them a good clean, I was shocked at how much gunk had built up, It’s not just how pretty the build looks, the hardware (blocks included) needed attention too. I also used some UV green tubing and fluid, the colour of the drink.

More details included the plate for the SSD, which was based on the Infinite Improbability Drive. You can see in the picture below that I also included Babel fish. I thought it was quite appropriate that all the cables that connect and let all the hardware talk to each other had a bit of help with the translation. All the hardware conflicts are non-existent.

The work was done on a laser, I’d originally had the drive plate engraved and disaster, the engraver made a spelling mistake. Having said that it was a blessing in disguise, as the laser work looks very professional. I couldn’t ignore Marvin, I don’t think the fans of the book would forgive me if I hadn’t included him. I thought it would be good if he could do some maintenance in the case. I do move him around. Well, we wouldn’t want him getting bored.

I used the ASUS Rampage Extreme 3 motherboard, It has a nice little RoG logo that lights up when switched on, it also blinks when the system is on stand by. This was too much of a temptation not to mod.

I decided that I’d keep the RoG logo but replace the lettering with the words “DON’T PANIC” I had that lasered too as I’d tried small lettering, but it was far to fiddly to do the logo any justice. One thing that did worry me was if the guys from RoG would take offence but I figured it was more than likely that they’d be fans of the Guide and wouldn’t mind (too much).
